Tableau is capable of creating highly advanced visualizations and hence ranks very highly in the list of BI tools. Although Tableau is one of the leading BI tools in the market today, sometimes it seems to be missing some very fundamental and necessary features.

One such feature is of creating different line types or Line charts as below:

Why is this functionality useful?

Line charts are usually created to represent time series data, for instance, Population trends over time. However, what if you wish to visualize and compare multiple values, one way to make a distinction between multiple values is to have different values represented as different colored lines like below:
