Data Mesh: The Ongoing Evolution
Pick any Data Worker, and they will tell you the same story: There is no shortage of problems when scaling data platforms. Every single growing data organization is facing or will face at least one of the following problems:
- Failure to Bootstrap
- Failure to Scale Sources
- Failure to Scale Consumers
- Failure to materialize Data-Driven Value
The Data Mesh concepts, initially introduced in this excellent post, seem to be positioned to take center stage as a fundamental pattern for managing large and complex data organizations. However, as one tries to learn more about the “Data Mesh” conceptual framework, there is not yet a central location that ties all the knowledge required to get started.
After all, use-cases and live experiments with real products is the only way to add clothes to the frame that is proposed by the Data Mesh foundational concepts:
- Domain-driven Data Ownership Architecture
- Data as a Product
- Self-serve Infrastructure as a Platform
- Federated computational Governance
Wait no more! Here is a list of curated references that will help you evaluate the Data Mesh concepts as well track the evolution of this concept over the past…
