All 5G-advertised phones aren’t fully 5G

About a dozen countries today support 5G. Many more are just around the corner to get 5G-ready.

Ever since South Korea first adopted 5G, and the citizens started using it, there emerged a fad for 5G mobiles around the globe.

Especially here in India, countless people started buying 5G mobiles, even in those days when there’s absolutely no mention of 5G by our popular network providers.

My pals say, “Just buy it dude. You’ll be future-proof.”

The 5G handsets here fall in a vast price range — $150 to $1,500.

So when that filthy rich guy at our office bought an iPhone 13 Pro Max, the not-so-rich guy down our lane bought a Redmi Note 10T.

Both 5G. And both happy.

But I was intrigued particularly by the vast price range. For example, two mobiles (I prefer not to reveal) of different brands had almost similar features.

  • Screen size,
  • chip speed,
  • camera,
  • battery,
  • 5G etc.

But I could find “hundreds of dollars” of price gap between them — with…
