Let’s get into it…

If you guys had installed Openlens since 2023, specifically after the release version of 6.3.0, you probably encountered some significant functionalities missing in the dashboard.

The missing functionality, such as showing the pods logs, shell, and others, are critical for day-to-day work with the Kubernetes cluster and not available from 6.3.0 OpenLens, as discussed in the GitHub issue.

Fixing the Essential Functionality

Thanks for alebcay/openlens-node-pod-menu (please show support for the project if it helped you ;) ). We can fix the issue by adding that project extension in three simple steps.

  • Go to Openlens extension (MAC: command+shift+e ) (Windows: ctrl+shift+e)
  • Add @alebcay/openlens-node-pod-menu extension
  • Enable @alebcay/openlens-node-pod-menu

*** incase there is an issue with the extension, try to restart the Openlens program ***

Conclusion

Since version 6.3.0, critical functionality in the Openlens project has been missing, which serves us in day-to-day work on the Kubernetes cluster. Thanks for alebcay/openlens-node-pod-menu, We can add a lens extension that restores those critical functionalities.
