How I got 100k+ views for one video on YouTube!
As a small YouTuber, it’s a huge step to cross 100,000+ views on YouTube for a video.
I have a YouTube channel which is mainly focused on DIY crafts. After making a lot of videos of different DIY crafts, I got more than 100,000 views for one video. That one video helped me to cross 4000hr and 1000 subscribers. That helped me to enter a YouTube partner program (YPP).
As we know, we have to get at least 4000 watch hours and more than 1000 subscribers over the past 12 months to enter a YouTube partner program.
Before creating this video, I had less than 1000 subscribers and I couldn’t complete 4000 watch hours.
But, there is one video that helped me to enter YPP.
Keep reading.. You will see the video :)
Before you create the video, you have to consider the following things.
- The niche of the video — In my case, I choose DIY/ How to craft videos as my niche. Of course, there are subcategories on my channel. You can watch videos of paper crafts, felt crafts, pipe cleaner crafts, paintings, decorations, and many more.
- Video Timeline — The video, which hit more than 100+k views, was created during the Vesak festival in Sri Lanka. Vesak is a religious festival in Sri Lanka celebrated by many Buddhists. That was 2019 and on the other hand, there was a lockdown because of the Covid pandemic. People cannot go outside. Therefore, they made Vesak lanterns while staying at home. These kinds of videos get more traffic during that time.
Now you created the video. Then you have to consider the following facts when uploading the video to YouTube.
- Video Editing — It’s better if you can edit the video using video editing softwares like iMovie, Final Cut Pro, and Adobe Premiere Pro CC etc. But as a beginner, you can edit videos even from your mobile phone.
- Eye catching Thumbnail — This is one of the important facts when uploading a video to YouTube. Thumbnail should be eye catching. When people search for videos, after the heading, the first thing they will notice is the thumbnail of the video.
- Video Title — A title is required and is a very important thing. Writing a great title will help your video be found by right the people. Title is a key field where you can use keywords.
- Video Description — You can tell viewers about your video in the description. This is kind of a summary of the video. Description is a key field where you can use keywords.
- Use Tags/ Keywords carefully — correct keywords/ tags can increase the video’s reach. However, tags play a minimal role in helping viewers find your video. (YouTube says so ^_^)
Once again, I’m not a “big” content creator like other DIY YouTubers. But, I’m still trying to grow my channel. [Learning & growing :) ]
I wrote this article from my own experience and I hope this will help other small YouTubers like me to grow their audience.
