How do I start learning cybersecurity?

The best way to start learning cybersecurity is through the use of the internet. You can find several online courses and certification programs that will help you to learn the basics. In addition to online resources (which I list further down), you can also look into doing a cybersecurity Bootcamp. Bootcamps are preferable to college degrees because they are much cheaper and save you a lot of time. Most bootcamps can be completed in a matter of 1–6 months compared to a four-year college degree.

How fast can you learn cybersecurity?

Becoming an expert in cybersecurity or any field can take years to achieve. But when it comes to reaching entry-level or a level of proficiency this can be done in less than a year if you put the time in. I would suggest that most people with no prior knowledge of cybersecurity, but a basic understanding of computers should expect to take 6–12 months before they feel competent in the field. If you take some type of formal education program then this time will be significantly condensed.
