We’ve heard a lot about how students use ChatGPT to write essays and for homework assignments.

We’ve been debating the concerns around this, and scrambling to find AI detection tools for ChatGPT, something OpenAI is rumored to be working on as well.

But there hasn’t been much discussion about how teachers can utilize ChatGPT for their own work.

While experimenting with ChatGPT from a teacher’s perspective, I have conducted experiments with ChatGPT and discovered some impressive outcomes.

I would like to present five examples of how ChatGPT can support teachers in their daily tasks.

The following use cases are based on teaching Astronomy for a 5th-grade class, but of course, ChatGPT can be used for any subject and grade level.

1. Lesson Plans

Every day before students come in, teachers need to decide which activities, assignments, and discussions would be effective on a given subject matter.

Writing lesson plans is something teachers do all the time and it takes considerable time and effort to create them.

I asked ChatGPT to write a lesson plan on the topic of ‘Exploring the Solar System.’
