More MacOS Fails: Choose Audio Input and Output At The Same Time

Another UX fail with potentially dire consequences

I recently wrote an article about MacOS making undesirable decisions for me about my “Focus Time”, and was sadly surprised to learn that I had a few coworkers who have also been hurt by that behavior. On the same day that I wrote that article, I discovered another upsetting issue, but it wasn’t until recently that I found the “solution” (workaround) and learned that, once again, I wasn’t alone with this.
