My Love-Love-Love-Hate Relationship With Writing Technical Articles

A while ago, I wrote an article titled “It doesn’t pay to write technical pieces” and it generated quite a bit of engagement as I think many people related with the topic.

Once again, I’m broaching this topic because I just can’t seem to come to terms with what’s going on in my mind. Do I love writing technical articles, or do I downright hate it?

I Absolutely Love It Because…

It’s calming, straightforward and to-the-point

When you have a certain technical topic to write about, you research specifically about it, get your facts right and write it down.

You may have to frame it in a certain (chronological) order for your readers, cut the bullshit and make it simple to understand, but that’s about it.

No need for any fancy language — just straight-up facts.

It reinforces my knowledge

People say you understand things better when you teach it — that’s true for any technical topic. It forces you to know what you’re saying because…
