Repairing a Rok Coffee Grinder
Giving some love to an old workhorse
In the middle of a comparison between the Niche Zero and the Rok grinders, the transfer power gears broke on my Rok grinder. A few years prior, I also had a burr issue where the screw threads tore into the burr. I made due for awhile, but once the gears broke, I had to do some repairs if I wanted this grinder to continue working well.
I first had to pull out the gears.
Both gears broke. They had been through 15 kg of coffee per year for 5 years.
Then I took the burrs off:
I had to separate the holder and the burr. Then I put on the new holder.
Then I put the new gears in:
With the cover back on top, it was ready to grind.
I still plan to use the Rok grinder as my travel grinder, so I’m glad it is in better shape to last for years to come.
