Why are you mixing Generative Art with NFTs?

Generative Art is blossoming and currently dominating the Ethereum NFT Artspace. Aaron Penne, an engineer and artist who has been creating generative artwork since 2018 and this year has been selling algorithms as NFTs. His work has been featured at Sotheby’s and Christie’s.

He used computer codes to generate a collection of paintings named Apparitions — colourful layers of repetitive lines creating dynamic movement. This was inspired by a Levi Walter Yaggy painting published in 1893. Using the generative art NFT platform Art Blocks, Aaron created 1500 paintings from this algorithm by introducing a handpicked set of 20 colours with various underlying rules to generate a wide array of outputs.

This collection pays now the artist 5% royalties for every secondary market sale. With 2.8K Ether volume traded, the project has paid the artists approximately USD 600 000.
