Web 3.0 Is Just Being Built
Why do we need this transition?
The 3rd version of the world wide web is coming and is based on blockchain. What this means is that it will be fully decentralized, contrary to what the internet is right now, a global network controlled by various entities.
We went a long way to reach this point and it’s time for a change.
From Web 1.0 to Web 3.0
The internet has evolved from its incipient version 1.0, in which most people were excited about this new technology, as consumers of the content provided on the network, to a second version, in which more people got involved as creators of content.
The first version was more based on text and color, but after the year 2000, web 2.0 brought graphic designs, maximizing the 2D capabilities of what a browser can display. 3D designs started to be used as well, later, but we are still seeing them in a 2D browser window.
Web 3.0 comes with completely revolutionary changes. We will have 3D graphics, but not on a 2D browser. It will be like a game in which you will be fully immersed, by using virtual reality glasses. You will change everything using gestures and movements. It will be completely interactive, like a completely new world.
A Decentralized Internet
Why do we need this 3.0 version of the world wide web? Because we need freedom on the internet and because we need to make the internet even more intuitive. Blockchain technology can make this possible through decentralization.
The internet was conceived to be free of rules and conditions, but things changed a lot, and now it's far from that. Just remember how in the last decade the collection of our data has evolved and how we are giving our consent now without even reading the terms because there is simply too much information to read.
A More Secure Internet
Web 3.0 is currently being built and is about to change the way we use the internet completely. To understand more clearly what this means, you can imagine the simplest thing, like logging in on a website.
Instead of writing your username and password, you could log in just like you would log in on a blockchain because web 3.0 is based on blockchain technology.
In other words, you will log in using a wallet. This wallet could be used to enter multiple websites, but also in games to apps. If you ever gain something, instead of using a payment processor, the gains will be transferred into your wallet. The address of the wallet will represent the account name, but this doesn’t mean you cannot choose a nickname. The password will be the passkey of the wallet. This type of login is much more secure.
A Completely New Era
In the new internet, there are no main governing institutions or corporations. People can participate in its governance and get rewarded with tokens. Web 2.0 programming is becoming obsolete. A new way of building the web is currently developed and it may also revolutionize programming as a job.
Big names in the industry are already trying to make the first steps. Change is inevitable because change is evolution.
As you can see, we need this transition, because it’s the normal evolution of internet technology. Are you prepared for the new era brought by web 3.0? You should be, as it’s coming into your home sooner than you may realize.
