Any crypto enthusiast on the internet will agree that Bitcoin has been experiencing massive adoption worldwide and gaining a spotlight in the media since its release in 2009.

Currently, there are about 109 million Bitcoin users worldwide, and there are several reasons that account for why people are embracing Bitcoin, among which are:

  • Decentralization: Bitcoin uses peer-to-peer technology to operate with no central authority or banks; managing transactions and issuing new bitcoins is carried out collectively by the network.
  • Transparency: Bitcoin is open-source; its design is public, nobody owns or controls it, and everyone can participate.
  • Deflationary status: The nature of deflation in Bitcoin has two primary rules. Firstly, only a total of 21 million coins will be issued. Secondly, there is a 50% reduction (every four years) of the reward that miners receive for validating blocks.
