Will the Internet Bring Us Together or Drive Us Apart?

It depends on how we choose to use it.

Internet

The internet has changed my life.

It introduced me to my girlfriend. It helped me make the shift from the corporate world to entrepreneurship. And it helps me to stay in touch with old friends and family.

But the internet is going through a metamorphosis.

It changed from the norm of information sharing to the wild west of social media.

Internet is becoming a divided kingdom, and we are a divided nation.

America got stuck in the middle and accidentally became president of the internet (according to the article I read and can’t seem to remember.)

The internet no longer feels like an open, free, space. It feels like an ideological battleground.

The internet can be used for good

It is so powerful, it can connect people and kickstart projects they never thought they’d see the light of day.

The one-year-old website Gibtr.com is an example.

The idea is to anonymously send people who are stuck in an office and mad as hell a small gift. Gibtr can send a box of doughnuts, a pastry, or a t-shirt.
