All-in-one PCs have traditionally been an area where PC makers tend to innovate and produce some of their most unique and attractive designs, and HP’s 2018 Envy Curved all-in-one is a perfect example of that.
Available in 34” and 27” sizes, the 2018 Envy Curved AiO is the world’s widest curved all-in-one. Unlike with TVs, curved displays are very useful on desktops. And this AiO sports a 21:9 curved display with a 34” Ultra WQHD display featuring slim micro-edge bezels mounted on top of a swanky aluminium stand.
The base itself looks more like a fancy home theater speaker then it does a PC. It’s covered in a faux woodgrain finish which houses a capacitive media control dial that is complemented by pale gold metal finish accents. Overall, the Envy AiO looks so luxurious, it gives the iMac a run for its money.
But its beauty is not skin deep. The base has integrated wireless charging for powering up your smartphone. The speakers are also smart speakers with Alexa support. This is actually the world’s first AIO with Amazon Alexa built in. A light strip at the front of the base offers visual feedback so that you know when Alexa is listening.
And if you’re wondering where the web camera is, it’s hidden at the top of the display and it can be popped out when needed with a gentle push. This is the perfect solution for those worried about privacy.
Under the hood, the Envy AIO can be configured with 8th gen Intel Core processors and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 discrete graphics.
HP Envy 13 and HP Envy 17 laptops
In addition to the Envy AIO, HP has also revamped the HP Envy Laptop. This all aluminium beauty is rocking a new “Damascus pattern” on its back side which is typically found in sword blades and speciality knives. It also has a spiffy knew geometric perforated speaker grill, along with a micro-edge bezel that sports a 31% thinner top bezel than the previous generation, while still keeping the optimal placement for a webcam, which is at the top of the display.
The new Envy laptops can be configured with 8th gen Intel quad-core processors, the 13” laptop can be also configured with Nvidia GeForce MX150 graphics, up to a 1TB SSD, 16GB of RAM and a 4K UHD display. It’s powerful enough to connect up to 2 external displays too.
When it comes to ports, the Envy features a neat “drop jaw port” which allows the laptop to stay thin while still managing to house a full-size USB-A port. The laptop also comes with a fingerprint reader for extra a security and HP Sure View which lets you toggle the displays privacy mode on and off to prevent visual hacking.
Pricing for the HP Envy 13 will start at $999 and the HP Envy 17 will start at $1049.
HP has also announced new Envy x360 models with dedicated AMD Ryzen & Radeon Vega discrete graphics options, starting at $699.
