And It Was Good

The first act of creation:
believe something is possible.
God made a world by imagining:
dust and breath come to life.
The poet dreams the lines, wakes,
and the poem slowly writes itself.
The lover swoons and love is real.
Narratives become their own truth.
Whatever might be can be.
The world is a living fiction
organized by the imagination.
In time, we must die and fade away,
but, first, create what we desire every day.
By breath into dust, we make our way.
