Interstellar Hop

Aeons must pass
in cavernous dark,
silence filling the blanks
between the building plops
of water —
Measured thus
by the millionths, light
will steal
into the vault
on crystal slippers
from pillar
to sealed post
with overtaking speed
when it does, dawn
bursting through
for just as long.
