a poem by Zsuzsa A. Túri, translated by Joe Váradi

Nothing(ology)

Whirlwind eve:
glittering
fluidly
daisy-fog
binding bog
shoved aside
dizzying
dizzying
nothing to
nothing
would
bleed
out as
errant stains
blended and
amended
cyclical
rhythmical
wound-colored
water well
drawing in
parallel
extinguish
extruded
suffixes
secrets and
watermarks
hand-scribbled
doodle arcs
bottomless
vortices
swallowing
primal screams
lifetime of
grey impasse
acid-worn
cumuli
piercing
through
emptiness
longing for
clarity
no more
hostility
hurting you
hurting me
losing you
losing me
empty yard
heaving sighs
smothering
last good-byes
withering
paradise
pupils that
nevermore
magnify
ossify.
