On Being Whole

To be whole is to be happy
No problems or issues
No more crying
No more tissues

To be whole is to talk
About your worries and sorrows
To get them out
So they may be gone tomorrow

To be whole is to not struggle
But instead to thrive
In this world of treachery
You must avoid the knives

To be whole is to blossom
And in Spring to bloom
No shroud of darkness
Trying for your soul to consume

To this notion I say no
This is not to be whole
For to be whole is to fight
To climb out of your hole

To be whole is to acknowledge
Your problems and their reasons
To get through Winter
To see the next season

To be whole is to be afraid
But have the courage to fight
In the face of evil
You show your true might

To be whole is to be content
Alone in a dark room
Just you and your thoughts
Take on that gloom

To be whole is to be yourself
This is what means the most
For you must learn to live with your struggles
Or you’ll become a ghost
