It’s So Simple

after Rilke

Every morning, rise.

Settle
yourself over
fresh white paper.

Take up your pen.

Let your brain run
riot in your head.

Put the pistol of
imagination to your
throbbing temple.

Pull the trigger.

Scattered matters
splatter on the page.

They form poems
in the ink
of your blood

The day’s work
is complete.

Repeat this
everyday
for the rest
of your life.

Nothing to it at all.

Thanks again for the inferior text editor, Ev Williams.
