Go tell the Spartans…
The value of a maimed life
expressed in its open wounds.
Not every cut is mortal.
Some incite the mind to think,
become stigmata of resistance,
proclaim glorious guerrilla war
against moribund conformity
and tyranny’s simple answers.
Blood, always freedom’s price,
must be paid, drop by drop,
every oozing wound a well,
swelling the tide of liberty,
the painful necessary way
to stand against the current,
and damn the lies of today.
