Author’s Note: I thought I’d share my first quennet here, since Mike has been so prolific in them and so kind to make me the equivalent of a staff writer.

Unwritten rules measuring glances supported exclusion
clanging cymbal

regular meetings forced joy fake freedom
white-washed sepulchre

permitted gossip disallowed vocabulary frequent favoritism
stagnant soul-wells

American church
in slumber mode
hears the Creator
knocking at their hearts
and rolling over
tightens their blinders
and adjusts their earplugs

unbound brokenness ignored sin weeping Maker
unchecked fall

Screen capture of quennet in its native format
