Tire fires are of two types.

They can be fast-burning conflagrations. Or they can be slow-burning shit storms.

The first leads to almost immediate loss of control while the second can continue for many years

Tire fires are normally the result of arson or improper manipulation with open fire. … Extinguishing tire fires is difficult. The fire releases a dark, thick smoke that contains cyanide, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, and products of butadiene and styrene.
