How to turn on Scribble (handwriting recognition) in OneNote for iPadOS — for those without superhuman vision
If you have an iPad and Apple Pencil, you may want to try the the recent Scribble (handwriting recognition) support Microsoft added to its OneNote for iPad app. However, if you are NOT a young whippersnapper with supervision, here’s a tip on how to turn it on — because the app’s icon is super tiny.
First, make sure iPadOS’ Scribble is turned on. You can find it in Settings for Apple Pencil. Mine was already set because I tried Scribble with other apps a while back.
Second, launch the OneNote app and create a test page. Two more steps to go:
- Tap the “Draw” option at the top of the OneNote page
- See that tiny “A” in the first of the icons that look like pencil tips? If you’ve been around the sun a bunch of times like me, you may not have seen it right away — I didn’t. Tap on that to turn on Scribble support to let you hand write on the OneNote page.
That’s it. You’re welcome. Enjoy Scribbling in OneNote on your iPad.
