How to Participate in Voting on Governance Proposals in the Gelato DAO
Hi again!
Today we will walk you through the steps for participating in voting on Proposals using your GEL tokens within Snapshot.
Step 1: Have $GEL to participate in Voting
First, you need to be holding GEL tokens at the time of the Snapshot taken for the Proposal or delegate the GEL Tokens to yourself to be able to vote with your preferred wallet address.
For example, if you don’t hold GEL in the account you want to use on Snapshot (because you are storing it in cold storage or a Gnosis Safe) you should delegate your GEL from your other account to the wallet address you are planning to vote with on Snapshot. This way you can vote with your $GEL without having to log into Snapshot with the same account holding the GEL tokens.
Optional: To Delegate your GEL tokens, you need to visit the Gelato Network Token contract, scrolling down to option “8. delegates” where we will call the delegate() function by inputting the wallet address that we want to use to vote on Proposals in the Gelato DAO.
Step 2: Visit the Gelato DAO and cast your vote
Here you can view all the Proposals in Gelato’s Snapshot Space and their respective status.
Click on the “Connect wallet” button in the top right corner.
Connect the wallet provider with the address in Step 1, where you currently hold GEL tokens.
Simply select the one that you want to participate in, ensuring that the Proposal is still active whereby you will then be able to cast your vote.
Sign the message via your wallet and you’re done — you have successfully participated in the Gelato DAO.
It’s as easy as that!
