Today we are excited to announce and welcome Robert Cornish as Gemini’s first Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Robert comes from the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) where he led the NYSE technology team.

As a New York trust company that has married one of the oldest regulatory frameworks in the world with one of the newest global technologies, we had to balance a number of different considerations when looking for someone to lead our technology team and strategy. We felt Rob had a great understanding of where we are today, and where we are going tomorrow.

Our mission is to build the future of money. Part of this mission is to bridge the island of cryptocurrency with mainland of finance. Rob comes from the mainland and will help us continue to build this bridge with his experience in leading high-performing engineering teams, his expertise in exchange and matching-engine architecture, and running high-throughput platforms that are secure and resilient. This will ensure that Gemini continues to deliver the best possible platform experience to our customers and set the standards of excellence for the cryptocurrency industry as a whole.

Rob will also immediately assume oversight for the deployment of Nasdaq’s SMARTS Market Surveillance technology, which enables Gemini to monitor across all of its order books, as well as Gemini Auctions™, which are used to determine the settlement price for the Bitcoin Futures Contracts that trade on Cboe Futures Exchange under the ticker symbol “XBT” (contract specifications | fact sheet).

Welcome to the team, Rob!

If you’re interested in joining Rob and the rest of the Gemini team to build the future of money, we’re hiring in our New York, NY and Portland, OR offices! Check out our careers page for more information.

Onward and Upward,

Cameron
