It’s Been Three Years

Just another square on the wall

It’s Been Three Years
April 23, 2017
A day not planned, a talk not rehearsed
No well wishes, No congrats on decision made
A promise broken, A pillow soaked with heartache
Plans left to wither away

It’s Been Three Years
Not a word to be said
Empty square on the wall
Anniversary not toasted
Dust covered vases lie in wait

It’s Been Three Years
Pills to be taken morning and night
Two cups filled on top
Emotions fly, tears fall, sadness sinks deep
Skin softens, curves form, junk in trunk

It’s Been Three Years
She, hidden for years, now free for three
An innocent, a dreamer, an adolescent
Older body, wrong body, new parts wanted

It’s Been Three Years
His face is gone, her face in mirror
His voice remains, residue left behind
Shoulders are broad, surgery can’t fix
Flats and heels are a plenty, size within reach
