“Will you get a clicky penis?”

The first time I heard this, I had to stop and look in confusion. I wasn’t expecting to have such a question, and honestly, it felt rather violating, but this and other questions were some of the many questions I got asked during my first year of transition. I want to cover why they are offensive and very rude. I want everyone to take from this as if you wouldn’t ask someone who is cis about their genitals, or upcoming changes from medication. Maybe use that filter about asking someone who is trans.

Have you noticed any changes?

I’ve noticed things; I’m not sure if they’re changes or not. When I first started Testosterone, I used to take a photo every day until I got bored. I tried to stop focusing on when changes would happen because I found myself obsessing over when they’d happen a little bit too much.

Are you going to get bottom surgery?

Yes? No? I mean, when I got this question, I hadn’t even thought about it. Now the answer is yes, but not out of any feeling of real dysphoria, but more to get a stronger sense of closure that I don’t feel I’d get from just a hysterectomy. I’ve never had significant dysphoria…
