Every year we come together on the streets of Los Angeles, as well as in various cities across the nation, the weekend before March 8th to celebrate. We celebrate women, our cultures, and our efforts towards change. This event calls attention to international women’s rights including domestic violence, sexual assault and harassment, trafficking, homophobia, transphobia, deportation, and poverty. International women’s day is a day devoted to all women — to not only acknowledge our resistance and survival but to help the world recognize it and celebrate it too. It is an amazing day filled with hope and strength; these photos from our rally and march on March 6th, 2016 in downtown Los Angeles help to tell our stories and our experiences.

“Feminism isn’t about making women stronger. Women are already strong. It’s about changing the way the world perceives that strength.” — G. D Anderson

When women are under attack, what do we do?

“It is our duty to fight for our freedom. It is our duty to win. We must love each other and support each other. We have nothing to lose but our chains.” — Assata Shakur
This is what Transnational Feminism looks like!

“I had no idea that history was being made. I was just tired of giving up.” — Rosa Parks
