“In a randomized double-blind study (n = 127), science faculty from research-intensive universities rated the application materials of a student — who was randomly assigned either a male or female name — for a laboratory manager position."

(Fun fact: one of the authors on this is now the Deputy Director of Science at the Office of Science, Technology, and Policy, and she is an amazing person)

When people tell me there isn’t sexism in the sciences… And when people tell me that they aren’t sexist… And when people point to the existence of female faculty members as proof that there isn’t really a problem. Ladies are sexist too. We all, all, need to read and reflect on this because it’s all of us and it’s not okay.
