Are we going to hell in a handbasket?
Exposing the monster in the closet
The media would have you believe we’re going to hell in a handbasket. Everywhere you look, there are mass shootings (heck, even stabbings), threats from some foreign invasion, deadly diseases, politicians (obviously, the ones from the party you didn’t vote for) clamoring to snatch away all your rights, natural disasters (or unnatural, depending on how you look at it)…It goes on and on and on.
The media would have you believe that literally nowhere is safe (my mom even said this exact thing one night after watching a string of atrocities play out on the news).
Two (or many) sides of the same coin
Yes, I know “the media” is rather vague, but that is deliberate on my part. No need to compartmentalize.
I am referring to ALL major media outlets—mainstream, alternative, social media, conservative, liberal, network television news, internet news sites, good old fashioned newspapers, sensationalist news outlets as well as more “sophisticated” outlets like the New York Times and Wall Street Journal.
I used to think I was so enlightened because I didn’t watch mainstream news. Then I would watch YouTube videos about the impending apocalypse and wonder why I was so anxious and depressed all the time.
