Loving the place (and time) where you are
Do you feel stuck in your crappy sector of reality?
Spinning your wheels and getting nowhere
In my last story, I discussed feeling trapped—like we’re being forced to go along with things we never consented to.
On a larger scale, sometimes we may feel like we’re trapped in a reality we didn’t consent to. Stuck in our own version of Groundhog Day, living out the same script in the same mediocre movie day after day.
This becomes even more maddening when we can see the life we DO desire dangling just out of reach, like a beautiful mountain vista from the window of a jail cell, teasing us.
We may feel like we’re spinning our wheels and getting nowhere, or we may not even know where to begin.
Wishing you could go back (or forward) in time
Nostalgia is another biggie. Nostalgia for loved ones who are no longer in our lives, for the “innocence of childhood,” for an era that has passed.
I love music from the 70s and 80s—which I listen to on YouTube—and I’ll often see comments below these videos like “those were the days” or “they don’t make music like this anymore.”
Another phrase I hear a lot: “I was born in the wrong time.”
