Over the past 18 months, a group of students at Northeastern University’s College of Engineering came together to create a space and organization for students who wanted to build products and work with entrepreneurs. With the support of the Sherman Center for Engineering Entrepreneurship and Mosaic, we started Generate.

Alongside one of my best friends, Bailey Kane, I have had the privilege to be one of the co-founders of this great organization. Since its inception in the Spring of 2016, we have come a long way and so has Generate. In that short amount of time, we’ve built a product development studio that has been privileged to work with 8 incredible IDEA ventures, collaborate with Scout for our clients, and work alongside Entrepreneurs Club to support programs like the Husky Start-Up Challenge. Our team has worked tirelessly, not only to lay the foundation of success for so many incredible student ventures, but also to bring incredible entrepreneurs and builders from the greater Boston area to teach our Northeastern community about entrepreneurial product development.

We are so proud to have come this far, but our vision is not done yet.

So, it is my pleasure to watch Generate enter into its new chapter and introduce next year’s Executive Director, Maddy Leger!

Maddy channeling her inner child while working as a Product Manager for Microsoft

Maddy, currently a third year Computer Engineer, joined Generate in the Spring semester of the 2017 school year. She has spent her co-ops at Amazon Robotics and Microsoft in software development and product management roles, respectively. Before joining Generate, Maddy spent her time on campus leading IEEE, working at the Center for STEM Education, and in the Computer Architecture Research Center. As a Project Lead in the Generate Build Studio this semester, Maddy has showcased her ability to unify a team around a collective mission, empower them to work together, and to push forward through the challenges that all product developers face.

As Maddy puts it, “Generate is a really cool organization, and I’m honored to take over it’s impressive legacy. Generate is playing an integral role in the rapidly growing Northeastern’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and I’m excited to work with so many smart & talented students that are a part of Generate!”

Maddy’s experience and attitude are going to be integral to bringing Generate to the next level.

The Generate team is excited to welcome her to the role, and we can’t wait for her to get started!
