From WYNC’s Radio Rookies

Glowing prom pictures, silly memes, and flattering selfies fill the social media feeds of most teenagers. What you don’t see much of are frank conversations about healthy and unhealthy relationships. In reality, one in ten teenagers reports experiencing violence in their romantic relationships in the last year. And one in three says they’ve been verbally, emotionally, sexually, or physically abused. Young women between the ages of 16 and 24 are more likely to suffer violence in a relationship than any other demographic in the country.

This raw and intimate Radio Rookies series gives a group of young New Yorkers the chance to tell their own stories and ask tough questions while cracking open the silence surrounding dating abuse.

We want this to be a conversation and we want you to be a part of it. Please share on social media using the hashtag #crushedstories.

Radio Rookies would like to thank Day One and The Door, our partner organizations for this series.
