We have some amazing people working at The Generator and in this section we’ll chat to them and find out a little more about what they do.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I moved to Devon 5 and a half years ago to study Biology at Exeter University. As a disabled student I studied part-time and built my business up on the side! I finally finished my degree last summer and decided to try full-time freelancing for 6 months. It’s going well so far!

Tell us a bit about what you do.

I undertake communications tasks for small, ethical businesses — at the moment, that’s mainly social media, press releases and blogs.

What events will you be attending this month (business or social)?

I’ll be attending quite a few meetings in my capacity as a Devon Wildlife Trust trustee. If anyone would like to get involved with the charity, or would like to know more about what we do, let me know!

When did you first join The Generator?

I think I first started visiting The Generator for day passes in autumn of 2018.

Why did you join The Generator?

Although I can come across as shy, I’m extrovert in the sense that I get energy from being around people. I really value being able to bounce ideas around and have a chat about something at the kettle in between tasks!

What is your favourite part of The Generator?

In the afternoon my energy dips and I usually have a chilled hour in one of the super comfy armchairs, doing low-key tasks like posting to my own Instagram business account. My favourite part of my day is often the random but inspiring conversations I have with people passing — great motivators for getting back at work before home time!

Just For Fun

If you could be any chocolate bar, what would it be?

My business would be a Freddo. Small, but mighty, and costs more than people think (I’m joking, I’m great value 😉 but being self-employed in your twenties means I get endless offers to work in exchange for ‘the exposure’. Sadly, my landlady doesn’t take rent in exposures 🤷‍♀️)

What is the song that gets you in the best mood?

Follow Your Fire by Kodaline, remixed by Syn Cole. It reminds me I’m following what lights me up — and to keep going.

If you could be any celebrity for a day who would you be and why?

Lucy Watson. Her dogs are almost as cute as mine, she’s a much better vegan than me, and I want to know how she gets her eyeliner that flawless.
