If you’ve worked for a start up or had your own then you’ll know the struggles of employing staff. Money is tight and finding the right person takes time. Start ups that are able to embed remote working into their DNA however, set themselves up with stable foundations to succeed in the ever changing remote world.

There are plenty of benefits to hiring remote workers.

Widens the talent pool

If you visit a department store looking for a surf board you might be met with a few options however if you travel to a seaside location and visit a specialist store you’ll have a broader range to purchase from. It’s the same with remote working, if you limit your employees to a certain city then you limit the skills and experience you can find. Employing remote workers allows you to find the best, most talented workers for the right price. Weather they’re working from the same county, country or continent, you are able to search for exactly what you need to help your business grow in the right direction.

Create a diverse team

Removing geographical boundaries will widen your employee base and introduce you into other ways of thinking. Alternative cultures, work life balance and varied perspectives will be the gateway to experience and knowledge that’s different to your own.

Builds trust

Many people think that remote employees spend their time out on beaches or drinking in the daytime and you’d be right, sometimes that’s exactly what they’ll do. A remote worker knows that although they could be chilling in the sun they have work that must be completed first. Workers actually tend to be 20% more productive when they can tackle creative projects at home. (source)

Lowers Costs

The average price to rent a private office is creeping up and there’s no escaping that. However there are more affordable options you can take when you’re not trapped by location. Employees can find a local coworking space, work from home or even settle in a coffee shop. As a start up, every penny counts so when there is a possibility to reduce your outgoings so drastically you’d be silly not to take it!
