Here at the Generator we love all things Exeter and as we’re coming up to the festive season we thought we’d fill you in on all the fabulous events that you won’t want to miss.

The Start Of The Festive Season
It’s not Christmas without the obligatory Christmas lights turn on extravaganza and although it can be pretty samey each year you’ll always see me there. I just can’t get enough of the festive talks, funky freebies and of course it also marks the beginning of late night shopping. So Thursday 16th November, you might catch me in my sparkly jumper singing my heart out to Fairytale Of New York.

Christmas Markets
Also kicking off on 16th November are the Exeter Christmas Markets on the Cathedral green. These festive sheds will be filling the air with sweet smells and christmassy tunes until 17th December. A perfect place to grab presents with local goodies and continental treats there really is something for everyone.

Gandy Street Countdown to Christmas
This is a new one for me but you can count on seeing me there this year in amongst the snow (machines). There will be loads of free samples all down the street, from mince pies to prosecco and mulled wine, your taste buds will truly appreciate you going there. Street acts will also be occurring with lots of great live music and performances. Childrens Hospice South West have organised a charity raffle with a great selection of prizes! Make sure you head to Gandy Street for 17:30 on the 23rd of November to witness this spectacle.

Unique Boutique
Unique Boutique is a Christmas market hosted by Exeter Phoenix, full of hand-made delights. There will be makers and designers from across Devon selling some unusual and exciting treats, perfect if you are stuck for Christmas present ideas. The market will actually be inside Exeter Phoenix, so the cold won’t be an excuse to not go! The market will be open to the public between 10:00 and 16:00.

Theatre Trips
Starting on the 3rd of December, the Northcott Theatre are putting on a Peter Pan production. If you’re into theatre, this isn’t one to miss (here is a link to their website which has the dates). Exeter Little Theatre Company are also hosting a Christmas show; Beauty and the Beast. The first show is on the 21st of December at 7pm, but here is their site if that date doesn’t work for you.

We hope to see you at one if not all of these events over the next 2 months, and wish you a very merry festive season!
