On behalf of the Genesis Program, I’m excited to announce our recent investment in Krew Rideshare (iOS). Krew seeks to make city-to-city travel efficient, enjoyable, and inexpensive.

The Problem

There are few good options for city-to-city travel. Greyhound and Megabus are notorious for chronic delays and poor overall rider experience. Customers must also travel to and from bus stations.

Krew simplifies travel and massively improves the user experience. Travelers can request a ride online or through the mobile app, be picked up at their door, and be dropped off at their final destination. The cost is split between riders. As for you, drivers: Krew has something in it for you as well. Krew’s algorithms maximize your time and the payout you get after each trip. It’s simplicity incarnate.

The Founders

Krew Rideshare was founded by a team of 2: Kush Singh (CEO) and Tanuj Girish (CTO). The two met during their time working at Peeyr, a Dallas-based tutoring startups.

Kush Singh, CEO and Founder of Krew Rideshare

Kush Singh (B.B.A, Finance’21) — Kush serves as CEO of Krew. Despite his status as a freshman, Kush is already a serial entrepreneur with a standout record. During his time at Peeyr, he served as Head of Product Experience. At the 2016 UPenn M&TSI program, he founded meetHere with 4 others. The company was ranked as one of the top 10 startups in the world by CNBC and the team represented the United States in the GEN Delegates Convention at the 2017 Startup Open.

Tanuj Girish (B.S. Electrical Eng.’21) — Tanuj serves as the CTO of Krew Rideshare. A full-stack iOS developer, Tanuj was the Head of Engineering at Peeyr. His success in that role and experience give Genesis confidence in his ability to lead product design for Krew.

In addition to the two-man leadership team, Michael Allers, a local attorney, serves as Krew’s legal advisor. Allers has been invaluable in helping the team incorporate and protecting Krew’s IP.

How’re They Doing?

Krew was founded in March 2017. By August, the team had already made thousands in revenue. They recently completed their iOS launch and have developed partnerships with inner-city companies to shuttle employees.

Krew’s traction is impressive, but the team’s knowledge and hustle is even more so. The team is lean and understands their customer better with each move. Every member of the team is on the same page and together, they possess the technical skill and acumen to execute. We are confident that the team will execute quickly and well.

Why I Led This Deal by Jeff Auster, Genesis Partner

Having worked primarily with Kush throughout Krew’s application process with Genesis, I was continually impressed with not only his entrepreneurial hustle and knowledge of the marketplace, but also his ability to deliver on everything we asked. I believe this is representative of Krew as a whole. Krew is a venture born out of a true need for better intercity travel. Kush has identified a potential opportunity to connect the booming cities of Austin, Dallas, and Houston by applying an adapted and innovative ridesharing model to the space. Kush is the type of entrepreneur I would trust to not only find the next exciting idea but also work through the many tribulations of a startup to be successful. It is this leadership and perseverance that makes me excited to see where Krew will go next. I hope to see all of us taking Krew rides around the state of Texas in no time.
