Your gentle presence is the truth

Thank you Allec Gomes for the image on Unsplash

You actually sit on a chair
Beside me in my mind
Your presence is so beautiful
It’s gentle, peaceful, kind
It’s everything I need
It’s humbling, tender, loving, warm
So far beyond the ancient pain
I’d struggled with, become

I love the words you said
When in confusion I was torn
“It’s your brother’s mind you love”
…And not the battered form
It’s the mind, creative, wholly beautiful and true
That draws you to your brother;
Irresistible in truth

The present overcoming
Of a hatred, gnarled and strong
That weaves between each blessing
Tender shoots that grasp the wrong
And hold it up in victory
Asserting painful claims
The righteous indignation
Of the mind that casts the blame
