The warmth of hope snuggling up under your chin as we’ve rounded Thanksgiving’s corner and are inching our way toward Christmas and a new year.
Breathe deep! It’s fragrant, this new hope!
I’m aware as I mention Thanksgiving that I’m addressing Americans, about an American tradition. Also, by speaking about Christmas, I understand I’m working to pull away a few strands from the massive and beautiful fabric that is the entire world’s spiritual traditions — and perhaps that fabric is even part of a larger mythos that overlays them all.
So please understand that as I ramble on about what I know and what I am comfortable with, I shall be using American metaphor, but the same skin and blood, the same breath and heartbeat belong to us all. I’m not trying to be profound, just accurate. We are brothers and sisters. Deny that to your own detriment. It is truth — and it is vital to know that.
