The Truth

Remember the truth?
We used to believe in it
once upon a time,
when we had dreams
and ambition.
The truth, scooped under
the carpet with the crumbs
and the parking tickets,
a dirty word —
technology killed it.
iPhones killed it.
Facebook killed it.
Twitter killed it.
The death of newspapers
killed it, the demise of
experts punched
an average-sized hole
through it.
Or just maybe
the truth was a concept
to keep us going,
like God, or Steve Jobs.
