The winter holidays are upon us and GenTales is a space for family history and genealogical research. Do you have stories about your ancestors?

For November and December, I want to read your family stories about the holidays. What are your holiday traditions? Did something happen to an ancestor around the holidays? What holidays did your grandparents celebrate?

It doesn’t have to be Thanksgiving or Christmas, it can be any holiday — though this time of year inspires winter stories and the world focuses heavily on Christmas, it’s important to remember all of the family traditions.

Genealogy is about so much more than vital records. It’s the day to day lives of real people and that includes the special gatherings and annual events.

Another point of interest is how you archive your family memories. Do you have a technique or software you recommend? Tell us about it and how to use it.

If you aren’t already a writer with GenTales, click here to read about our submission guidelines. You can comment either here or there to request being added to the publication as a writer.

Note: I accept submissions on any topic under lineage research, family history, genealogy, and adjacent topics at any time, not just the current call for submissions. For example, last month I requested spicy family stories and am still looking forward to reading those.

I would love if, in next month’s newsletter, I had new authors to introduce and lots of stories to share. So click here to join us.
