The Last 2024 GenTales Newsletter
It’s December and we’ll be publishing a year-end wrap-up at the end of the month, but now it’s time to make sure you didn’t miss anything great during November.
First, I hope everyone in the U.S. had a great Thanksgiving! I’d like to remind everyone — both new and old writers — that we’d love to read about your family holiday traditions!

Another holiday in the U.S. in November was Veterans Day. I wrote about U.S. military and veterans records and where and how you can find them.
More recently, Jacqueline Jannotta shared the second part of her series on Unspooling the Code — When Surprise Ethnicities Rewrite the Family Narrative. She offers insights into how genetic genealogy can help track down ancestors who have been lost in the paper trail while recognizing the limitations of DNA testing. With real-world examples and a side-by-side comparison of services, I highly recommend the article to anyone who is uncertain about whether they should test or what to do with their results.
We recently added a couple of new writers — I hope they’ll have articles for me to share next month! I’ll introduce you to them as they contribute. In the meantime, if you’re not already and would like to be a GenTales writer, visit the submission guidelines and drop a comment.
I wish you all a great December and happy hunting on those family trees.
