First crit session over! Here is the recap of the start of this project.

We chose a poster out of the pile (some background on the posters from a previous project) which focused on placing pictures on a map to remember the places you’ve been to. It also had a few other features (calculating the closest route from your current location etc.) that we chose to set aside for now. Out of this memory map was born the idea of “GeoStories”, an app were you leave memories and true stories for people to find.

The poster made by 8:th-graders for the Appjakten contest

We decided at an early stage that the presentation of each story was limited to one picture with a short text (think polaroid with a note under) and that one of the main concepts behind design decisions aught to be that every story left by a user is a gift and should be treated as such.

After a state-of-the-art analysis, we made a few basic design decisions as a group, and defined three basic areas of focus to prototype;

A main map to present the geolocated information,

Content filtering,

…and User interaction with stories.

With these three unique prototypes to discuss around we unified some ideas into design concepts. Here starts the next prototyping stage.
