Get America Covered co-founder Joshua Peck issued the following statement on widespread technical problems with HealthCare.gov that prevented consumers from enrolling today. Many assisters and other reported being unable to complete the enrollment process for at least several hours today.
“On the first day of open enrollment, according to reports from assisters in multiple states, our own monitoring, and comments on social media from consumers attempting to enroll, HealthCare.gov experienced widespread problems that have prevented people from purchasing coverage. Unfortunately, instead of publicly addressing this problem CMS has been silent. CMS should immediately and transparently release information on the scope of the problem, what they are doing to fix it, and steps they will take to make sure Open Enrollment is not disrupted any further. The first days are critical to ensuring people can secure access to affordable, comprehensive and life-saving coverage.”
