The inspiration

The weather was pleasant. Petrichor was in the air. The breeze was soft like silk. The clouds were hovering around and the moon was full with a halo as its crown. A star just beneath the moon’s jawline stood firm magnificently.

In an endeavour to hear the night’s enchanting songs and witness its myriad shades, I decided to have a little camping in my balcony — a night’s sleep under the open sky. The breeze and the overlooking stars inspired me to try this and have a unique experience, something that I had forgotten since childhood days. I remember sleeping in my grandma’s home terrace or verandah in the summer vacations and it used to be amazing.

Excitedly, I put down a mat, got my pillow from the bedroom and unfolded a blanket and a sheet and lied down to observe. It was like melting into the night sky’s lap with the soft breeze kissing me goodnight.

The mellifluous night!

The sky was silent; the night was silent and yet full of life. The winds moved the clouds which drifted away as I watched. Stars cropped up slowly and brightly. And a tired solo bird flew towards its home after a long day’s work. Two stars strolled amidst the passing clouds. They maintained a distance and moved as if holding hands with some sort of a magnetic field.

Silence has its own music.

Far away a few dogs howled as if in an orchestra.

The sky’s aura caressed my forehead. The gentle breeze swayed me from time to time singing a mellifluous lullaby. Embraced by a sense of comfort, sleep approached my eyelids eventually.

Morning birds, wind chimes, milk van horns, clouds, sun, the breeze and a few human voices…a symphony which woke me up. A pigeon came fluttering its wings and sat at the edge of my balcony as if to greet me Good Morning. And on it went!

The moon had dissolved into the sky while I was asleep and I woke up with the shining sun on my face.

The winsome dawn!

Though cloudy, the sun rays appeared on time playing hide-and-seek with the clouds. The sun’s warmth smoothly traversed above the horizon. My neck felt a tickle as it shone brighter and brighter — lighting up my face, too. I felt the light with closed eyelids. It was radiant.

I saw the colour of sky roll from dark grey to dark blue to blue to sky blue and then almost white in the sunshine. A few different birds continuously started chirruping and it created a beautiful song — the nature’s orchestra.

One small birdie entered my balcony, realised the wall ahead and promptly turned its direction. My ambience was rich in agility, warmth, music. The sky as a masterpiece — beautiful and vivid.

The clouds picked up pace as if it was time to shower in some nearby land. The reddish-pink hue in the sky made the clouds seem like cotton candy.

My thoughts raced with the dawn post the slumber party in nature’s lap. The birds taught me how meaningful life is synonymous to a simple life aligned with nature.

The contrast of the white clouds started to fade away in the daylight slowly.

My to-do list rang the bell, too. But I felt energised and content. I felt refreshed and synced with the rhythmic daylight. The wind made some noise and so did the rustling leaves as if sensing it’s time to get active, be grateful for another day and give their best.

A motion picture experienced

I realised the sky is not still nor is the night — if only we observed. It is a motion picture. It is a symphony.

I had a blissful experience connecting with the benevolent nature. Nature is healing and rejuvenating. Time to respect it and embrace its immense shades more often.

And on I went!
