If you live in Utah you should consider yourself lucky. Utah has adventure waiting for you around almost every corner. I wanted to share a family friendly adventure with you that I did with my kids.

In-between Green River, Utah and Hanksville, Utah you can find a trail called “Little Wild Horse Canyon”. It’s located just outside Goblin Valley State Park. Because it’s not inside the park there are no fees. When I went on a Saturday this spring it wasn’t crowded at all which is always great when you are hiking.

The trail head has room for parking and a small car would have no problems making it there. The trail starts of wide and next to a river bed, which was empty this spring, and then narrows into a beautiful slot canyon.

The total distance of the hike if you complete the entire loop is 8 miles. With my small children we went as far as we had the energy for and then turned around and came back the way we came. (I had my three year old hiking and we made it about 3 1/2 miles.)

My kids all claimed this was the best hike they had ever been on. Which is saying something because we have been on a lot of hikes. They loved the slot canyon and the easiness of it. There were no scary places or hard places to climb up or down. No technical equipment was needed. Just a nice hike through a beautiful narrow canyon with lots of fun rock formations to look at.

We can’t wait to go again. In fact, the kids all asked the very next day if we could do back. It was so fun.

If you are looking for solitude and adventure this is the place to go. Just don’t tell many people about it so we can keep it that way. :)

Love, Britt
