Today is the day when the 47th presidential election of USA is taking place.

This makes me wonder how and when the first election was held in USA. After a little bit of research I found out a few anwers and would love to share them with you.

The United States' first-ever election in 1788-89 is often portrayed as a heroic step into democracy.

But the real story is pretty ironic.
It was held with only one "real" candidate, no campaign rallies, and a voting system that was more of an exclusive club.
Imagine participating for a race and you are the only participant.

I think you got my point now.

Was It Really an “Election”?

The very first election was the one where there was only one candidate. George Washington was practically handed the presidency with a golden spoon.

There were no rivals, no debates, not even a campaign.
