Jason stepped off the treadmill, exhausted and discouraged after another ineffective workout.

For months he had been pushing himself hard in the gym, trying to get stronger and build muscle. But despite all his efforts, he felt sluggish and weak. There seemed to be an invisible barrier blocking his progress.

Unbeknownst to Jason, the real obstacle was his own self-sabotage.

In an attempt to lose weight, he had severely reduced his calorie intake. While this had helped him shed some pounds, it left his body deprived of the fuel and protein needed to repair and build muscle mass.

The Consequences

By chronically under-eating, Jason was actually dismantling the very goals he was striving towards. When the body is not properly nourished, it breaks down precious muscle tissue to make up for the lack of calories.

Fitness goals rooted in increased strength require calories to power workouts and nutrients to feed recovery. Without this nutritional foundation, Jason is unwittingly hindering his own development.

The Solution

First of all, Jason should be eating more, not less.
