How I Squeezed Every Last Drop Out of My Boosted Medium Story
A while back, I published a post on Medium called “Get Moving — Just 4 Minutes of Huffing and Puffing Could Cut Your Cancer Risk!”
To my surprise, it ended up getting selected for a Medium Boost.
I was thrilled to see the views and earnings start climbing over the next few weeks.
In total, the Boosted story got 1000 views and earned me about $75. Definitely my best performing piece so far! But I knew I couldn’t just leave it at that. I had to take advantage of the momentum from the Boost to get even more traction.
What I Did
First, I pinned the Boosted story to the top of my profile. This way any new visitors would see it right off the bat. I also dropped links to it within my other stories if it was relevant to the topic.
But the tactic that worked best was writing a meta-post one week after the Boost ended. I titled it “My Story Got a Medium Boost! Was It Worth The Hype?” In the post, I shared specific stats — the $30 in earnings, 180 reads, and 57% read ratio it had achieved in just over a week.
